What’s a Phillies flag doing in Menlo Park?

It may be red, white and blue but that’s no American flag. The Dawn Jogger noticed it first a couple of days ago – a no mistaking Phillies flag hoisted in a Menlo Park front yard that is clearly in Giants territory. Enemy flags are hoisted in Menlo from time to time, most noticeably when Notre Dame is in town to play Stanford. (Cal flags are not, for the record, enemy flags; USC flags are absolutely enemy flags.) The value of posting late in the day is knowing the Giants evened the series tonight in Philadelphia. And, of course, there was that trade today. Welcome to San Francisco, Carlos Beltram…
