For about 2/3rds around the Baylands loop, the Dawn Jogger and friend followed a group of white pelicans. Watching them raised a number of questions. Why are the brown pelicans on the Coast (they’d seen them yesterday) and the white pelicans on the Bay? Can what they eat be that much different to make them stake out territory in different locations? More important: who signals that it’s time to move from one location, flying a 100 yards or so to another spot on the slough? Clearly, they are easily amused be it windy or winding…
